Hi, I’m Cos!
“Chiropractic is a regulated healthcare profession focused on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of the musculoskeletal system.”
My name is Carlotta Chiarcos, but everybody calls me Cos!
I first discovered Chiropractic when I was younger, as I saw the benefits of treatment on my family and experienced them first hand.
Since graduating from the Welsh Institute Of Chiropractic in 2018, I have been working with patients and integrated Western acupuncture as part of the technique options during treatment, to help manage a variety of muscle and pain complaints.
Registered with the General Chiropractic Council (GCC), I am also a member of the British Medical Acupuncture Society.
In my free time I do love a bit of cooking and baking, as well as driving my partner mad learning how to play on his console: got to start somewhere!
About Chiropractic
Chiropractors are qualified healthcare professionals, using manual therapy to help patients suffering from a range of problems related to bones, joint and muscles (the so-called “musculoskeletal system”), as well as the impact these issues may have when causing pressure to the nerves in our body.
Accidents or injuries, poor posture, lack of exercise, illness, ageing, or simply every-day activities, are all possible causes of these musculoskeletal problems for people of any age, gender, occupation and fitness level.
Treating a wide variety of conditions, I am trained and dedicated to find the root of your problem, establish whether chiropractic treatment can help, and work with you to establish the best plan of action.
Not a condition that may benefit from chiropractic treatment? Not to worry! I can still help you with a referral to the GP if necessary.
Working together
Whether it is the first time we meet, or you are a regular patient, it is important we work together to get you back to feeling your best self!
Through a mix of massage, chiropractic techniques, Western acupuncture, mobilisation and stretching, the aim is to get you moving better with each treatment, but let’s not forget the importance of your “homework” (i.e.: exercise), to help you feeling stronger and more mobile.
You can find a more detailed description of each appointment in the “Services” section, but here’s a quick overview of the techniques which may be used:
-
Chiropractic manipulation consists of the application of controlled pressure over a joint through the use of the chiropractor’s hands or small instruments.
The aim of these techniques is to improve the body's mechanical function and motion, and reducing stiffness and pain.
-
Using various techniques, massage is commonly incorporated as part of the treatment, to release tightness of the soft tissues which may be a cause of pain.
Muscle spasm is also common in association with injuries or other complaints.
-
Stimulating muscles and sensory nerves under the skin, acupuncture makes your body produce natural substances, such as pain-relief endorphins.
Deriving from ancient Chinese medicine, Western Acupuncture uses fine needles inserted in specific sites around the body for therapeutic or preventative purposes following a diagnosis.
We may include the use of Western Acupuncture as an aid to treatment of a musculoskeletal complaint.
-
Targeting joints and muscles, mobilisation and stretching are manual therapy techniques to improve function of ligaments, fascia, and muscles, increasing movement and promoting healing.
We will also work on how to use stretching and exercises to achieve these results and get you moving better!
